Senior Meg Hartzell (Oshkosh, Wis.) opened her final season as a Sabre in a big way as she helped lead Marian to a 7-3 record, including a 5-1 ledger in conference action. At the top flight in singles action, Hartzell went 7-3 for the month of September with two of her defeats coming in non-conference action. She had four sets where she didn't allow her opponent to win a single game and all seven of her victories for the month were sweeps. In doubles action, Hartzell went 2-0 at the top flight and held a 6-1 mark at the No. 2 flight. In three of her eight victories, she and her teammate posted a shutout allowing their opponent to win zero games. Hartzell was named the NACC Player of the Week Sept. 18 after she posted a combined 4-0 week between singles and doubles. That week Marian defeated UW-Stevens Point 8-1 for the program's first victory over a WIAC opponent and swept Lakeland 9-0.
