Bobbie Jo Merten has the unique distinction of participating in four sports at Marian.
She is the softball program’s all-time leader in runs scored (133) and steals (18), as well as second in hits (193) and triples (16). She led the Sabres to back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances in 2002 and 2003 and was a fixture on the 2004 Lake Michigan Conference regular season championship team that finished 10-2 in conference play. Bobbi Jo was a three-time All-LMC selection, earning the awards during her sophomore, junior and senior campaigns. As a junior she earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association First-Team accolades and was placed on its second team as a sophomore and senior.
On the basketball court she was an ultimate team player. A skilled defender, Bobbi Jo finished her career with 168 steals and is seventh on the Marian career list. On the other end of the court Bobbi Jo showcased her ability to distribute the basketball. She completed her Sabre career with 188 assists and is No. 10 on the career list and helped lead the Sabres to four LMC tournament appearances.
In soccer she was a two time All-LMC selection and ranks 10th all-time in total points with 24 goals and 16 assists. Bobbi Jo also helped lead the Sabres to four LMC tournament appearances.
On the golf course she is tied for third all-time with 28 rounds played.
