FOND DU LAC - Marian University men's basketball (2-3, 1-2 NACC) led 31-26 at halftime but fell to MSOE by a 76-64 final.
The three-ball was kind to the Sabres in the opening half as Marian went 4-10 (.400) from beyond the arc to help take the early lead. A 7-2 run by Marian proved to be the difference for the half, capped off by a layup from junior Will Polczynski, as the Sabres took an eight-point lead with 11:57 left in the opening stanza. From there, both offenses went shot for shot with both teams shooting over 40-percent from the field in the half.
In the second half, however, MSOE would go 17-28 (.607) from the field including 7-9 (.778) from beyond the arc. The Raiders were able to use an 18-5 run to open the second half and build a 44-36 lead with 14:43 left to play. Marian would chip away at the deficit but the Raiders managed to pull away late to secure the 76-64 NACC win.
Sophomore Tavaris McCullough had another strong game scoring a game-high 17 points, while fellow sophomore Tristan Van Ess chipped in 10 points. McCullough along with senior Tyrese Pinson each had three steals to lead the Marian defense.
Marian remains at home to host Rockford Wednesday, December 5 at 7 p.m. from Sadoff Gym.
