SHEBOYGAN, Wis. - In a game where the largest lead was only eight points, Marian University men's basketball (2-5, 1-4 NACC) fell to Lakeland by a 73-69 final.
The Sabres took the first marginal lead of the game after a quick unanswered seven points gave the Sabres a 16-11 advantage with 10:07 left in the first half. The Muskies answered, however, going on a 14-4 run to take a 25-20 lead, a lead they held for the remainder of the half.
Marian was able to chip away at the 37-30 deficit they saw at halftime and managed to take their first lead of the second half after a three-pointer from senior Tyrese Pinson at the 11:11 mark. The rest of the game was a back-and-forth affair, but in the end, an 11-2 Muskie lead gave Lakeland the lead for good and the NACC victory.
Marian finished the game 29-64 (.453) shooting and outscored the Muskies 30-20 in the paint.
Sophomore Logan Hamilton produced a second straight double-double in the defeat with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Pinson led the Sabres with 20 points and added seven assists and four steals. Sophomore Tavaris McCullough rounded out the double-digit scorers with 14 and had three steals.
