Marian men's lacrosse continues MLC tournament push with 21-7 win at Fontbonne

ST. LOUIS - Marian University men's lacrosse (9-4, 5-3 MLC) continued their push for a berth in the MLC tournament with a 21-7 road win at Fontbonne.

The Sabres fell behind to open the game with Fontbonne scoring three of the first four goals to take a 4-3 lead into the first break.  Marian was able to bounce back in the second quarter scoring eight goals and holding the Griffins scoreless.

Marian put together a strong third quarter as well where they outscored Fontbonne 4-1 to take a 15-5 advantage heading into the fourth.  Fontbonne was able to score a pair of goals in the final stanza sandwiched between six unanswered Sabre goals to set the final at 21-7.

Freshmen Colt Robertson and Finn Maloney each had five-point games coming from three goals and a pair of assists, while sophomore Garrett Houlihan also had a three-goal game.  Sophomore Nick Klotz also had a strong offensive game with two goals and two assists.  Sophomore Tommy Gerlach was able to record a game-high nine ground balls and four caused turnovers.

Freshman Johnny Estrada (8-4) earned the win in goal for the Sabres making 11 saves on 17 shots in 48:47 of action.
