MONTGOMERY, Ill. - Marian University men's soccer (3-7-1, 1-5-0 NACC) rallied to tie the game in the second half but fell to Aurora 2-1 on the road.
Marian would only manage four shots but kept the game close in large part to senior Ian Chacon (3-6-1) who made six saves in goal for the Sabres. Freshman Brandon Mancini was the only Sabre who was able to send a shot on goal and his unassisted goal in the 65th minute proved to be a big equalizer.
The goal was his fourth of the season and answered a first-half goal from Aurora, but another goal from the Spartans just 2:32 later proved to be the difference in the game.
Marian opens the final stretch of the season with four of their final five games at home against Illinois Tech Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. from Smith Field.
