Marian celebrates a point.

FOND DU LAC - Marian University men's volleyball (1-6, 1-0 NACC) defeated Concordia Chicago in straight sets to open NACC play.

The first set was all about momentum as the Sabres took an early 6-1 lead forcing a CUC timeout.  Out of the break, the Cougars went on a 7-2 run to tie the game at 8-8.  Marian was able to respond scoring seven of the next nine points to take a 15-10 advantage and force another Cougar timeout.  Once again, CUC responded coming out of the break with an 11-4 spurt that put them ahead 21-19 and forced a Marian timeout.  The Sabres were able to close out the set immediately following at 25-23 with six of the final eight points.

The Sabres took an early lead in the second set 18-12 before a Concordia Chicago timeout changed the momentum and led CUC to a 7-3 run to cut their deficit to 21-19 and force a Sabre timeout.  The break proved to be a momentum shifter once again as Marian scored four of the next five points to take the set 25-20.

The third set went back-and-forth to open leading to a 15-15 tie.  The Sabres then took control of the set scoring 10 of the next 11 points to secure the sweep with a 25-16 set win.  The Cougars would commit five attacking errors during the final run.

The Sabres finished the match hitting .219 led by freshman Jacob Jurney who had a team-high eight kills.  From the back row, senior Cullen Liberski dug up a match-high 13 attacks.
