GREENWOOD, Ind. - Senior Lindsey Strainis has added a spot on the Google Cloud Academic All-District® team to her career awards with Marian University softball.
The Google Cloud Academic All-District® award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes in the nation for their combined efforts in the classroom and on the field. The all-district portion of the award is separated into eight different geographic regions with Marian being placed in region six which includes schools from Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be one of the top performers on their team and have accumulated a 3.30-grade point average throughout their career.
Strainis (Green Bay, Wis.) recorded a 3.90 cumulative grade point average with a major of exercise and sport science along with closing out her four-year career at shortstop with Sabre softball. Her senior year was one of the best in her career earning a spot on the All-NACC second team after hitting .315 with a .448 on-base percentage. She had a knack for getting on base especially via the hit by pitch ranking atop the NACC with 11 hit by pitches. Strainis also ranked fourth in the NACC with three triples, while driving in 21 runs.
In her career, Strainis played in the second-most games in Marian history at 157. She also ranked third in program history with 129 runs scored and had the 10th most hits of any Sabre hitter with 157. Strainis closed out her four years with Marian setting a program record for walks drawing 57 free passes.
