Sabre track and field returns to action at Pioneer Open

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - Marian University track and field returned to action after a week off competing at the Pioneer Open, hosted by UW-Platteville.

On the men's side of things, Jacob Leiden had another good run in the mile finishing in 10th place overall, second in his section, clocking in at 5:04.74.  In the 800-meter run, Leiden also took home a 15th place finish at 2:21.87.

The Sabres saw one record fall on the women's side when Brittney Roser closed out the shot put with a throw of 11.20 meters.  Roser finished in sixth for the event amongst a field of 33 competitors.

Miera Smith led the Sabres in the 60-meter dash finishing in 15th place, fourth in her heat, with a time of 8.73 seconds.  Smith also competed in the triple jump where she finished in seventh place with a leap of 9.63 meters.

Marian next hits the road to compete at Ripon College Saturday, Feb. 3.
