DE PERE, Wis. - Marian University track and field competed in only their second outdoor meet of the season in the St. Norbert Invite.
The men ended up finishing sixth out of the eight teams at the meet scoring 11 points. Ben Franzke had a big return finishing second in the high jump with a leap of 1.83-meters and seventh in the long jump at 6.17-meters. Jarod Silhavy also took home a 20th place finish in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:20.88.
On the women's side, Miera Smith had a pair of strong performances in the 200-meter dash and the triple jump. Smith won her section of the 200-meter dash, placing 15th overall, with a time of 30.14 and then finished fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 10.35-meters for a new school record. Sydney Cihak finished right behind Smith in the 200-meter in 17th with a time of 32.67.
Kadeesha Duncan also had a strong run in the 400-meter dash finishing 12th with a time of 1:09.64.
In the longer distances, Alexis Brost led the Sabres in the 1,500-meter run with a personal-best where she finished fifth in her section, 14th overall, at 5:41.73. Then in the 5,000-meter run, Alyssa Zuhlke earned a third-place finish with a time of 20:48.96.
Marian closes out the season at the NACC Outdoor Championships May 4-5, hosted by Benedictine.
