RIPON, Wis. - Marian University track and field opened the indoor portion of their season at the Red Hawk Invitational, hosted by Ripon College.
On the women's side of things, Kadeesha Duncan led the Sabres on the day with a 29th place finish in the 200-meter dash clocking in at 29.83. Adelie Requena also competed in the event finishing at 35.59, while also competing in the 400-meter dash where she finished in 27th with a time of 1:25.14, along with Brenda Ordonez who finished with a time of 32.92.
In the sprints, Mia McDonald clocked in at 9.60 in the 60-meter dash and Ordonez finished with a time of 9.68 in the same event. Alyssa Zuhlke competed in a pair of long-distance runs finishing the mile in 6:38.96 and the 3,000-meter run in 13:54.63.
The field events saw Kamajjae Patterson finish in 28th for the weight throw with a toss of 10.34 meters and 39th for the shotput at 7.82 meters. Emily Grunwald had a toss of 7.35 meters in the shotput and a 7.26-meter throw in the weight throw, while Gabrielle Ramczyk recorded a 6.99-meter toss in the shot put and a 7.51-meter toss in the weight throw.
The Sabre men had a strong finish in the 60-meter dash with all three competitors finishing in the top 30. Nathaniel Sampson led the way with a time of 7.45, good for 20th, while Jacob Cypret clocked in at 7.55 and Malik Tapp at 7.66. Sampson also had a strong showing in the 200-meter dash clocking in at 24.45, good for 22nd. Tapp also competed in the 200-meter recording a time of 25.86.
Jacob Leiden and Jarod Silhavy ran long-distance races for Marian with Leiden finishing in 2:20.10 for the 800-meter and 5:09.31 in the mile. Silhavy ran the 5,000-meter and finished in a time of 21:36.20.
Marian will make a return to Ripon College Saturday, February 9 for the Dick Hendricks Invitational.
