Sabre track and field returns to Ripon for second-straight weekend

RIPON, Wis. - Marian University track and field made a return to Ripon for the Dick Hendricks Invitational with the men's team finishing in ninth and the women's team in a tie for seventh.

The 200-meter and 400-meter dash were once again strong events for the Sabres.  Jacob Cypret led the way for Marian in both events finishing in 16th for the 200-meter at 24.78 and fifth for the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.78, earning Marian four points.  Nathaniel Sampson earned a top-10 finish for the 400-meter dash clocking in at 56.34.

Josiah Kusik would earn a 13th place finish in the 400-meter dash at 58.50 and also earned a 26th place finish for the 200-meter at 26.15.  Malik Tap rounded out the Sabre short-distance crew with a 23rd place finish for the 200-meter at 25.50.

Jacob Leiden and Jarod Silhavy each ran the mile with Leiden finishing 12th at 5:05.11, cutting off four seconds from last weekend, and Silhavy clocking in at 5:53.31 to finish 16th.  Leiden also finished in 20th for the 800-meter at 2:22.79, while Silhavy took ninth place in the 3,000-meter run at a time of 11:43.09.

The Sabre women were led by Alyssa Zuhlke who finished in fourth for the 3,000-meter run, earning five points, with a time of 13:28.41, an improvement of 26 seconds from last weekend.  She also finished 14th for the mile at 6:39.8.

In the shorter distances, Brenda Ordonez and Adellie Requena each competed in the 200-meter and 400-meter dash. Ordonez led the way for both events finishing in 22nd for the 200-meter and 17th in the 400-meter, while Requena earned a 27th place finish in the 200-meter and a 19th place finish in the 400-meter.

Kamajjae Patterson led Marian in the field events finishing 18th for the shot put at 8.27 meters, and 16th for the weight throw at 10.32 meters.  Emily Grunwald and Gabrielle Ramczyk also competed in the events and finished back-to-back for both.

Marian heads to the Panther Invitational, hosted by UW-Milwaukee, Saturday, February 16 as their final tune-up to the NACC Championships.
