Marian women's lacrosse overcomes slow start to beat Monmouth 18-14

FOND DU LAC - Marian University women's lacrosse (2-2, 2-2 MWLC) won their inaugural home game defeating Monmouth by a score of 18-14 in MWLC action.

Both offenses took off to start the game as the two squads combined for 10 goals in the first 10 minutes of the game.  The Fighting Scots were able to take an early 6-3 lead with 22:32 left in the first half before Marian closed out the final 20 minutes with a 7-3 run to take a 10-9 advantage into halftime.

After trading a pair of goals to start the second half, Marian went on another extended scoring streak of 7-2 to extend on their lead and cruise to the victory on their home field.

Freshman Sally Moris had a big game for the Sabres recording 10 points off of eight goals and two assists.  Moris would also grab three ground balls and record nine draw controls.  Senior Hailey Miller also had a five-goal game in the victory, while freshman Bayli Mannek added three goals.

In goal, junior Molly Gross made 13 saves on 27 shots to earn the victory, while holding Monmouth to 3-10 on free position shots.

Marian hits the road for Colorado College Monday, March 18 for a 4 p.m. (CDT) start in non-conference action.
