FOND DU LAC, Wis. - Marian University women's soccer (5-7-0, 2-4-0 NACC) competed well but fell in a highly contested 1-0 final against Aurora.
The first half was all Aurora has the Spartans held the Sabres shotless and recorded a total of 14 shots. Junior Danielle Deltgen was all over the place, however, as she recorded nine saves in the half and only allowed one goal when the Spartans took advantage of a scrum in the box.
The Sabres bounced back in the second half as they outshot the Spartans 7-4, two on goal, in the half. Marian was able to create several quality opportunities but were unable to find the back of the net leading to the 1-0 final.
Junior Karissa Preston led the Marian offense with three shots, while Deltgen finished the game with 11 saves but took the tough-luck loss putting her at 2-3-0 on the year.
Marian closes out their non-conference schedule at St. Norbert Wednesday, Oct. 11 with kick off at 7 p.m.
