RIPON, Wis. - Marian University women's volleyball (6-22, 4-7 NACC) finished the 2016 season falling to Ripon in straight sets with set scores of 25-14, 25-13, 25-23.
The Marian defense struggled in the opening sets of their regular season finale as the Red Hawks would hit .341 in the first and .333 in the second set.
The third set was tightly contested from start to finish eventually leading to a 20-20 score. Ripon then quickly scored four consecutive points to give them a shot at the sweep. The Sabres would battle of three match points with a kill, ace and block, before the fourth time proved to be the charm for Ripon to complete the sweep.
The Red Hawks finished the match with a .266 hitting percentage, while Marian could only manage an .042 attack percentage.
Junior Katy Funkhouser closed out the season with a team-high 11 kills, her 10th double-digit kill performance of the season, while freshman Jenna Skroski closed out a strong freshman campaign with a match-high 23 digs in the back row.
