BELOIT, Wis. - Marian University women's volleyball (8-10, 3-5 NACC) earned their fourth sweep of the season defeating Beloit with set scores of 25-14, 25-23, and 25-16.
Marian opened the match with their best offensive set of the match hitting .275 with 15 kills to only four errors. A 12-2 run at the end of the set allowed Marian to easily take the opening set.
The remainder of the match saw the Sabre defense play strong as Beloit was held to a negative hitting percentage in the second and third set. Marian opened the second set with a 16-13 lead before the Buccaneers went on an 8-2 run to take a 21-18 advantage. The Buccaneers eventually led 23-22 before Marian took advantage of a pair of Beloit attack errors and a kill from sophomore Jenna Moehn to take a 2-0 sets lead.
The Sabres used the momentum from the second set rally to jump out early on Beloit leading 15-6 to open the third and cruise to the sweep.
The Beloit offense finished with a -.015 hitting percentage in the match with freshman Brooklyn Taylor and junior Sara Komosa each recording 17 digs to lead the way. Junior Jenna Skroski also added 10 digs for the Sabre defense.
Offensively, senior Alexandra Meidl had a match-high 11 kills, while Komosa chipped in eight kills. Junior Amber Yahr had a double-double for the Sabres recording 27 assists and 16 digs to go along with five kills.
Marian remains on the road traveling to Ripon Friday, Oct. 12 for a 7 p.m. non-conference match. The Red Hawks took the opening match of the season series at the beginning of the season.
