Sabre men's golf competes at Midwest Region Classic

GALENA, Ill. - Marian University men's golf shot a 340 in the opening round and improved by six strokes in the second round to finish in 29th at the Midwest Region Classic held at Eagle Ridge South Course.

AJ Rambaud led the Sabres after the opening round with a 77 but a second round 86 put him in second on the team behind Jake Sherwood.  Sherwood closed out the event with an 80 and an 82 to finish in a tie for 73rd.  Caleb Martin had the lowest second-round score for the Sabres with an 81 to put him third on the team after a 90 in the opening round.  Kyle Doyle improved by eight strokes after a 93 in the opening round to card an 85 in his second round, while OJ Gracia shot a 93 and 94 to round out the Marian lineup.

Carthage won the event after being led by the individual title winner Jordan Knutson who shot a combined three-under par for the event.

Marian will next be in action Sept. 22-23 when they travel to Washington County Golf Course for the WLC Fall Invite.
