Marian continues hot start with win at Lawrence

APPLETON, Wis. - The Marian University men's soccer team (2-0-0, 0-0-0 NACC) had another dominating performance en route to a 3-0 road win at Lawrence.

Senior Muhammed Abshir had another multi-goal game finding the back of the net for the first two Sabre scores.  His first tally came in the 34th minute and was unassisted, while his second came a mere nine minutes later with an assist to freshman David Carmona.  The pair of goals was part of a first half that saw the Sabres outshoot the Vikings 10-3 with seven of the MU shots being on goal.

Just 9:36 into the second half, freshman Cade Klusendorf scored his first career goal, with an assist from junior Eric Rodriguez, in what proved to be the final tally of the afternoon.

MU finished the game with a 19-5 shots advantage over Lawrence and only allowed one Viking corner kick for the entire game.  Junior Ian Chacon (2-0-0) posted his second consecutive shutout to open the season.

Marian returns home Wednesday, Sept. 6 when the Sabres host Beloit for a 7:30 p.m. game.
