RIPON, Wis. - Marian University men's soccer (4-1-0, 0-0-0 NACC) went back to their winning ways with a convincing 6-0 win at Ripon.
The two usual suspects opened the scoring for Marian in the 19th minute when senior Muhammed Abshir scored his sixth goal of the season with an assist to fellow senior Alonso Fragoso. Fragoso then netted his fourth goal of the season in the 42nd before assisting junior Ben Fabian in the final minute of the first half to put the Sabres ahead 3-0 at the first horn. The goal was the first of the season for Fabian.
Fragoso then continued to wreak havoc on Ripon with an unassisted goal in the 51st minute and another in the 64th minute assisted by senior Jose Luis Alvarado. The pair of goals capped off a hat trick and eight point game for the Cicero, Ill. native. Junior Eric Rodriguez closed out the scoring for the game with an 80th minute goal to set the final at 6-0.
The Sabres outshot the Red Hawks 20-9 in the win with Fragoso sending a game-high eight shots towards the goal, seven were on frame. Junior Ian Chacon (4-1-0) made seven saves in goal to earn his fourth shutout on the season.
Marian remains on the road traveling to MacMurray Saturday, Sept. 16 for a 1 p.m. start.
