Fragoso hat trick leads Marian to win over Cougars

Marian celebrates a goal from Alonso Fragoso.

RIVER FOREST, Ill. - For the second consecutive game, senior Alonso Fragoso netted a hat trick to lead Marian men's soccer (7-4-0, 2-2-0 NACC) to a road win.

Fragoso opened the scoring for the game just 1:18 into the game when he was able to bury a penalty kick.  Just 3:20 later the Cougars would knot the game up 1-1 to close out the scoring for the first half.

Senior Israel Tovar would take a centering pass from freshman Cade Klussendorf in the 61st minute for his first goal of the season to put the Sabres back on top.  Fragoso then showed his offensive prowess with a goal in the 86th and 89th minute to give Marian a comfortable 4-1 victory.

MU finished with a 12-8 shots advantage in the victory with junior Ian Chacon earning the win in goal for the Sabres.

Marian returns home when they host MSOE Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. from Smith Field.
