Chacon signs professionally with Orlando SeaWolves

ORLANDO, Fla. - After an illustrious career in goal for the Marian University men's soccer program, Ian Chacon has signed a professional contract with the Orlando SeaWolves of the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL).

Chacon (Cicero, Ill.) was a three-time All-NACC selection at Marian including a United Soccer Coaches All-Region selection and first team All-Wisconsin honor his junior season.  His name is found throughout the Marian record books finishing second in program history with 67 games played and 62 starts.  In his four years, he posted the fourth-most saves in program history with 368 and had the third-lowest goals-against average at 1.52.  His 11 shutouts over his career are also the sixth-most in Sabre men's soccer history.  Chacon never allowed more than 26 goals in a single season and his goals-against average was never higher than 1.74.

He closed out his career with a 27-30-4 mark with a pair of nine-win seasons coming as a freshman and a junior.  His first season in a Sabre uniform saw him post 103 saves to go with a 1.42 goals-against average and .811 save percentage, career-best for a single season.  As a junior, Chacon posted a single-season best 1.28 goals-against average, eighth-best for a single season in program history, leading Marian to a berth in the NACC Tournament for the first time since 2010.  His final season saw him post a single-season high 111 saves with an .810 save percentage and 1.73 goals-against average.  Chacon went on to post six games with double-digit saves as a senior, including a 14-save performance against Benedictine and allowed one or fewer goals in eight of his 15 starts.

The Orlando SeaWolves are a member of the MASL, which is considered worldwide as the highest level of professional arena soccer.  The MASL features 17 teams playing across the United States along with Canada and Mexico.  The SeaWolves are based in Kissimmee, Fla. and were founded in June of 2018 with the 2018-19 season serving as their inaugural year.  In that inaugural year, the SeaWolves went 9-15 finishing fourth in the South Central division averaging 1,127 attendees per game.
