Marian crushes Lakeland 8-1

KOHLER/MEQUON, Wis. – The Marian University men's tennis team earned its second Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference win of the season with an 8-1 victory over Lakeland. MU also dropped a 9-0 decision at Concordia Wisconsin.

"We jumped out to a quick doubles lead against Lakeland and didn't look back," MU assistant coach Brian Ottman said. "Our guys found their groundstrokes and were able to take advantage of opportunities in the match to take the win."

MU swept Lakeland in doubles. The No. 1 team of Joey Dittman and Danny Roe won 8-2 and the No. 2 squad of Patrick Schwoerer and Spencer Braswell rolled to an 8-3 victory. In No. 3 doubles Zac Brandrup and Brandon Ruis won via default.

Dittman, MU's No. 1 singles competitor, won 7-6, 6-1 and Schwoerer rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Braswell, the No. 4 participant easily won 6-0, 6-0.

Brandrup and Stanczyk won via default.

The Sabres return to action next weekend at Edgewood and Aurora.
