Slow start costly for Sabre women's soccer

RIVER FOREST, Ill. - Marian University women's soccer (3-6-0, 0-2-0 NACC) couldn't find an offensive groove falling to Dominican 4-0 in NACC play.

Dominican jumped out early scoring three goals in the first half with two goals coming in the first 12:48 of action.  The Star offense continued to put pressure on the Marian defense but a strong second half performance from freshman Amy Birner only allowed Dominican to score one goal in the final 45 minutes.  Birner faced 10 shots on goal making nine saves in just her second-career appearance in goal for Marian.

Senior Reilly Louko and freshman Olivia Meerdink each had a shot in the defeat.

Marian next travels to Lakeland Wednesday, Sept. 26 for a 7 p.m. kickoff in NACC action.
