RIVER FOREST, Ill. - Marian University women's tennis (2-0, 0-0 NACC) swept Dominican and Concordia Chicago 9-0 in a pair of NACC matches.
The Sabres opened the day against Dominican and started in dominant fashion only dropping two total sets in doubles action. Emma Lewandowski and Mackenzie Meyers went 8-0 at No. 1 doubles, Kyrsten Bruce and Carly Paulson went 8-0 at No. 2 doubles, and Aubree Helstad teamed up with Sarah Mereness to win No. 3 doubles 8-1.
Marian then swept all six singles matches with four of the match-ups seeing the Sabres only drop one set. Lewandowski went 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, while Meyers went 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 to lead the charge. Bruce at No. 3, Helstad at No. 5, and Mereness at No. 6 all would only drop one set in their sweeps. Paulson earned a 6-0 win in the first set at No. 4 and completed her sweep by a 7-5 final.
The second match of the day against Concordia Chicago saw a lot of the same as Marian easily earned a 9-0 win with the same lineup. Bruce and Paulson led the way in doubles with an 8-2 win at No. 2. In singles, Bruce once again only dropped one set in her win, while Meyers, Helstad, and Mereness all only lost two sets.
Marian concludes their match against Lawrence in non-conference action Thursday, Sept. 12 from Buttermilk Creek Park.
