Marian volleyball swept at final day of Red Hawks Invitational

RIPON, Wis. - Marian University women's volleyball (3-6, 0-0 NACC) fell to Lawrence and Carroll in four sets to close out the Red Hawks Invitational.

In the opener of the day, Marian would take the opening set against the Vikings 25-23 but LU managed to battle back to take the next three sets.  Freshmen Jamie Schrauth and Cheyenne Henson had 14 and 12 kills, respectively, while senior Amber Baker had a big match with 46 assists and 21 digs.  Henson led the Sabres with 29 digs in the match for her second double-double on the year.

Match two of the day was similar as Marian took the opening set easily with a 25-15 final, but the Pioneers rallied and took the next three to defeat the Sabres in four sets.

Junior Alexandra Meidl and Schrauth each had seven kills to pace the offense, while sophomore Natalie Orre led the back row with 16 digs.

Marian next hosts their home opener Wednesday, Sept. 20 when they take on Concordia Wisconsin at 7 p.m. from Sadoff Gym.
