Marian women's volleyball picked ninth in NACC presesaon poll

Marian gets ready to break the huddle.

MILWAUKEE - Marian University women's volleyball received 126 total votes placing the Sabres ninth in the NACC according to the conference preseason poll, as voted on by the head coaches and sports information directors of the conference.

Aurora had a historic season in 2018 reaching the national quarterfinals and was picked as a heavy favorite to win the conference with 333 points and 21 first-place votes.  Concordia Wisconsin picked up the other five first-place votes and was second in the poll with 310 points.  From there, the poll was tight with the fifth through ninth spot being decided by 95 points.

The Sabres look to take a big step in their program as the roster has a more veteran look than in years past.  Marian returns six of their seven starters from a season ago and will look to contend for a NACC tournament spot for the first time since 2014.

The top six teams in the final regular-season standings will qualify for the NACC tournament, which opens with a pair of first-round games Tuesday, Nov. 5. Semifinals are slated for Thursday, Nov. 7 with the championship match set for Saturday, Nov. 9. The higher seed in each contest will host throughout the tournament.  The NACC tournament champion will receive the league's automatic berth in the 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship.
