DENVER - For the second consecutive match, Marian University women's volleyball (0-5, 0-0 NACC) recorded more kills than their opponent but fell in straight sets with scores of 25-16, 25-14, and 26-24.
The Sabre offense got out to a slow start in the first two sets, while the Pacer offense had strong showings. Marian would come alive in the third set recording 16 kills and recording a higher hitting percentage than William Peace, but the Pacers were able to rally late in the set to secure the sweep.
Freshman Monica Dreifuerst continued her strong play to open her Marian career with her third double-double posting 14 kills and 14 digs, team-high for kills, off of a .222 hitting percentage. Senior Jenna Skroski added 10 digs in the back row.
Marian closes out the Wildcat Invitational tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 7, taking on host Johnson & Wales at 2 p.m. (CDT) before playing Lewis & Clark at 6 p.m. (CDT).
