MILWAUKEE - Freshman Monica Dreifuerst has been named the NACC player of the week, as voted on by the sports information directors of the league, becoming the first Sabre volleyball student-athlete to earn the award since 2012.
Dreifuerst (Fond du Lac, Wis.) averaged 22.0 kills and 12.7 digs over the course of three matches last week and was named to the Red Hawks Invitational all-tournament team. She opened her week with 23 kills and 14 digs against Beloit before leading Marian to only their second win since the 2013 season over Ripon with 21 kills, 15 digs, and five service aces. Dreifuerst closed out the Red Hawks Invitational narrowly missing out on her third double-double with 22 kills, nine digs, three total blocks, and a pair of service aces. The outside hitter has now recorded a double-double in seven of the 10 matches she has played in.
