(Fond du Lac, WI) - The Sabres opened up the tennis season with a 7-2 victory over Ripon College on Wednesday afternoon at Buttermilk Creek Park. Marian came away with all three doubles victories and four singles victories to secure the season-opening win.
Jamie Raquet (Kiel, WI) won a 6-0, 6-4 decision at \#2 singles and also teamed up with Michelle Zwicky (Fond du Lac, WI) for an 8-5 victory at \#1 singles.
Rebecca Heczko (Iron Mountain, MI) was a 6-1, 6-2 victor at \#3 singles and also won at \#2 doubles with some help from Reilly Connaher (Fond du Lac, WI). Connaher also won 6-2, 6-4 at \#5 singles.
At \#6 singles, Melanie Seitz (Panama City, Panama) won 6-3, 6-2. Setiz and Emily Bates (Fond du Lac, WI) teamed up for an 8-5 victory at \#3 doubles.
Marian is back in action again on Friday, as they will play two matches in Chicago, Illinois. Marian opens with Calumet County Community College and finishes with Robert Morris College.
