(Ripon, WI) - The Marian University women's tennis team lost their season opener 5-4 to Ripon College on Thursday evening. The Sabres won a pair of singles matches and a pair of double matches, but it wasn't enough as they fell to 0-1. 

Reilly Connaher (Fond du Lac, WI) was a 6-4, 6-1 winner at \#2 singles, while Rebecca Heczko (Iron Mountain, MI) was a 6-1, 6-1 victor at \#3 singles. Connaher is still unbeaten in singles play in her regular season career. 

In doubles competition, Michelle Zwicky (Fond du Lac, WI) and Connaher won 8-6 at \#1 doubles. Hezcko and Rachel Brotz (Sheboygan, WI) won 9-8 (7-1) at \#2 doubles. 

Marian is back in action on Friday, as they will host Lawrence University.
