FOND DU LAC, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) – The Marian University women's tennis team had its three-match win streak snapped, but took a step forward towards starting a new one as they split two Northern Athletics Conference duals today, Sept. 17.

The Sabres dropped a 7-2 decision to upstart Dominican University in their opening match of the day. The Stars to five-of-six singles matchups and two-of-three doubles on the way to their convincing victory. Marian didn't make it easy for them, however, as three singles matches went three sets with two going into a third set tie-breaker.

In the night cap, Marian rebounded to earn an 8-1 decision over Concordia Chicago. The Sabres dropped their \#1 singles match before running the table to take the next eight matches and finish off the Cougars.

Marian's Becca Heczko took both of her matches on the day at \#2 singles, defeating Dominican's Kornelia Nowaczyk in three sets before dispatching CUC's Hana Mendoza in the same fate. Joining Heczko as unbeaten on the day were Brynn Hartzell and Alyssa Wittchow in \#2 doubles. The duo took down Dominican's Taddy/Metalf by a score of 8-6 and then made quick work of CUC's pairing of Diaz/Kroll, 8-2.

Marian is 5-4 overall, 4-4 in the NAC and will prepare to host Wisconsin Lutheran on Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 4 p.m.
