Women's Tennis Drops Road Match to Vikings

Results

APPLETON, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) – The Marian University women's tennis team came up short against host Lawrence University at the Lawrence Courts, this afternoon, Sept. 8, falling by a score of 8-1 in non-conference action.

Although Lawrence swept the doubles matches, Robyn Cords tallied the victory for the Sabres, avoiding the sweep in competition. It seemed as though the Vikings would claim another victory in the second set but Cords was able to rally and eventually claim the victory.

On the doubles side of play, Lawrence seemed to be too much for the Sabres to overcome as they won in convincing fashion, 8-0, 8-4 and 8-0.

Lawrence improved to 3-4 on the season with the win, while the Marian dropped to 2-4 with the loss.

The Sabres will be opening conference play this week. They are set to face Wisconsin Lutheran Tuesday, Sept. 10, at the Riverside Tennis Courts. First serve is slated for 4 p.m.
