FOND DU LAC, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) – In the season opener, the Marian University women's tennis team saw its match against Ripon College relocated to a familiar venue and took full advantage with a 5-4 win at Centre Court this afternoon, Aug. 29.
Centre Court Indoor Tennis Center proves to be Marian's home court and with threatening weather in the area, the Sabres were fortunate to have their match moved to home soil. It wasn't easy, however, but winning 2-of-3 doubles matches got the Sabres off to a great start.
Natalie Boyle and Jenny Gapinski needed extra points, defeating the Ripon duo at #2 doubles, 9-7, while Kaylyn Fischer and Chelsea Schoenick took down their Red Hawk counterpart at #3 doubles, 8-4.

The Sabres (1-0) will have their hands full tomorrow with their first taste of conference play, taking on the likes of Dominican and Concordia Chicago down in Illinois at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.
