FOND DU LAC, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) -- The Marian University women's tennis team welcomed Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference foes, Benedictine and Aurora, for a full slate of action Saturday, Sept. 6. The Sabres dropped both match-ups as they fell to 1-5 on the season, 0-4 in conference play.
Benedictine showed their experience early, as the 2-1 Eagles took doubles in three sets going 8-1, 8-3 and 8-0.
Despite a valiant effort, the Sabres were just out-matched by the Eagles, losing all six singles matches and resulting in a 9-0 Eagle win.
The Sabres showed improvement while trying to bounce back against Aurora.
Melissa Spannbauer and
Samantha Austin picked up some points for the Sabres, but fell short to Christy Savellano and Micaela Mascha, 8-5.

After an 8-1 setback in the second match,
Chelsea Schoenick and
Kaylyn Fischer gave another tough performance for the Sabres against Aurora's Jordan Withey and Jamie Huff, but fell short, 8-4.

The Sabres struggled in singles as
Jenny Gapinski gave Abby Matayka a run for her money in her first set but couldn't come away with the win, falling 7-5. The Sabres didn't find much production afterwards, culminating to a 9-0 Spartan victory.

The win improved the Spartans to 4-2 on the year, while the Sabres fell to 1-5. The Sabres look to get back on track at Alverno Wednesday, Sept. 10.
