Marian strong in doubles competition at Aurora

AURORA, Ill. – The Marian women's tennis team received a strong performance in doubles action, but dropped the match 7-2 at Aurora on Saturday in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference action.

The team of Meg Hartzell and Celeste Degeneffe won an 8-3 decision and Samantha Smits and Kristin Houle was victorious 8-6. 

The Sabres struggled in singles competition, but still put up a great fight. Andrea Krahenbuhl went three sets (6-4, 6-8, 10-5), while Smits dropped a close match (6-4, 6-3). 

The Sabres (3-1) return to action Monday with a conference match against Concordia Wisconsin at Buttermilk Creek Park.
