APPLETON, Wis. – The Marian women's tennis team went 3-3 in singles play, but was swept in doubles competition and fell 6-3 at Lawrence (6-5) Wednesday evening in a non-conference match.
Freshman Meg Hartzell continued her strong play in No. 1 singles and raced to a 3-6, 6-4, 10-5 win.
In No. 5 singles Celeste Degeneffe won 6-3, 7-5 and in No. 6 singles Samantha Smits won 1-6, 6-1, 10-3.
The Sabres (5-6) return to the court Oct. 2 for a dual match with Westminster (Mo.).
