GREENFIELD, Wis. – Freshman Mackenzie Meyers and sophomore Celeste Degeneffe picked up singles victories, but Alverno (3-5, 2-2 NACC) was able to edge the Marian University women's tennis team 6-3 Tuesday evening.

Meyers (No. 3 singles), a South Milwaukee, Wis. product continues to be a force for the young Sabres. She eased to a 6-0, 6-3 victory and in doubles (No. 2 doubles) she teamed with sophomore Alissa Heid and the tandem walked away victorious 8-5.

Degeneffe (No. 5 singles) won a two-set thriller 6-4, 7-5.

MU (3-3, 2-1 NACC) returns to the court Thursday evening and plays host to Lawrence at Buttermilk Creek Park. Start time is set for 5 p.m.
