SHEBOYGEN/MEQUON, Wis. – The Marian University women's tennis team split its Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference schedule Saturday with a 7-2 victory over Lakeland and a 7-2 setback at Concordia Wisconsin.
The Sabres started off fast at Lakeland. The team of Meg Hartzell and Celeste Degeneffe (No. 1 doubles) rolled to an 8-0 victory and Alyssa Ostrowski and Mati Kissack (No. 3 doubles) eased to an 8-2 win.
MU extended its lead in singles play.
Hartzell (No. 1 singles) dominated 6-0, 6-1 and Mackenzie Meyers (No. 2 singles) won in three sets 6-0, (3-6), 6-1.
Alissa Heid (No. 3 singles) seized a 6-0, 6-3 triumph, Kristin Houle (No. 5 singles) won in three sets (2-6), 6-2, 6-1 and Melissa Spannbauer (No. 6 singles) capped off the team victory a 6-0, 6-0 sweep.
MU struggled to gain momentum at CUW. Hartzell (No. 1 singles) won 6-3, 6-5 and Meyers (No. 2 singles) eased to a 7-5, 7-5 victory.
The Sabres return to the court Wednesday, Sept. 21 at MSOE.
