FOND DU LAC, Wis. - Marian University women's tennis (4-4, 3-3 NACC) opened the day with a 7-2 win over Lakeland before being swept by Concordia Wisconsin in NACC action.
Marian would take the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles slots to open the day. Junior Meg Hartzell and freshman Kyrsten Bruce teamed up for an 8-0 sweep at No. 2 doubles and junior Kristin Houle duoed with freshman Erica Counter for an 8-2 victory.
Hartzell then completed her sweep of the day with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles to open the second portion of the match. Bruce earned a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 3 to also complete a sweep on the day, while fellow freshman Emma Lewandowski earned a victory at No. 4 with a 6-3, 6-1 final. Junior Celeste Degeneffe nearly had a sweep and No. 5 with a 6-1, 6-0 score and junior Andrea Krahenbuhl closed out the win with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 6.
Concordia Wisconsin was able to show their strength in the second match of the day against the Sabres. Bruce and Hartzell played strong at No. 2 doubles but fell in a tiebreak. Bruce then played strong at No. 3 singles and was able to force a third set that she dropped by a 15-13 score.
Marian closes out the weekend against Carroll in non-conference action tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 17, at 10 a.m. from Buttermilk Creek Park.
