APPLETON, Wis. - Marian University women's tennis (5-4, 3-3 NACC) defeated Lawrence 6-3 in a non-conference road test.
The Sabres found themselves in the hole dropping two of the three doubles positions but the duo of juniors Meg Hartzell and Kristin Houle won at No. 2 doubles with an 8-3 score to put Marian on the board.
Marian rebounded in singles action taking five of the six spots. Freshman Kyrsten Bruce won at No. 2 by a 6-2, 6-3 score and sophomore Mackenzie Meyers earned a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles. Freshman Emma Lewandowski won at No. 4 singles by a 6-4, 6-3 score, while junior Celeste Degeneffe easily handled her No. 5 singles opponent by a 6-2, 6-0 score. Junior Andrea Krahenbuhl took the No. 6 singles spot by default.
Marian returns home to host Purdue Northwest and Ripon in non-conference action Saturday, Sept. 23 for homecoming. MU opens against Purdue Northwest at 11 a.m. and then takes on Ripon at 2 p.m. from Buttermilk Creek Park.
