Marian women's tennis opens spring season

FOND DU LAC, Wis. - Marian University women's tennis struggled in their return to the court falling to Lake Forest, North Park and Carroll all in non-conference action.

The Sabres opened the weekend in Elkhorn, Wis. where the Sabres were defeated 7-2 by Lake Forest and 8-1 by North Park.  Both wins for Marian against the Foresters would come by default, with Brenda Ordonez dropping a pair of 6-3 sets at the No. 5 flight.  Against the Vikings, the duo of Ordonez and Alyssa Astrowski took the No. 3 doubles slot with Mackenzie Meyers forcing a third set at the No. 2 singles position but falling 10-7 in that third set.

Emma Lewandowski took home a pair of wins for Marian against Carroll as she teamed up with Erica Counter for an 8-6 victory at No. 3 doubles and then won No. 4 singles 8-6.  Ordonez had another close singles match falling 9-7 at the No. 6 flight.

Marian is next scheduled to host Illinois Tech at 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 20 as the Sabres continue to prepare for the NACC Tournament.
