MILWAUKEE - Marian University women's tennis (7-3, 5-1 NACC) earned a pair of NACC victories defeating Alverno 9-0 and Wisconsin Lutheran 8-1.

In their sweep of Alverno, the Sabres won a tough No. 1 doubles flight with Emma Lewandowski and Mackenzie Meyers battling to a 9-7 victory to open the match.  Meg Hartzell and Celeste Degeneffe then earned a much more relaxing 8-3 victory.

All five singles flights saw two-set sweeps with Meyers not dropping a single game at No. 4 singles and Erica Counter only dropping one game at No. 5 singles.  Kyrsten Bruce and Hartzell each earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 3 and No. 1 singles, respectively.  Lewandowski secured the sweep with a 6-2, 7-5 No. 2 singles win.

The second match of the day saw the Sabres only drop the No. 6 singles flight opening the match with a sweep in doubles action.  Hartzell and Degeneffe at No. 2 didn't drop a game, while Lewandowski and Meyers at No. 1, and Bruce and Kristin Houle at No. 3 doubles each won 8-3.

Similarly to the match with the Inferno, each singles flight would feature two-set sweeps.  Hartzell had the most convincing victory only dropping one game at No. 1 singles.  Degeneffe at No. 5 singles won 6-0, 6-4, while Lewandowski earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 2.  The middle flights saw Bruce win 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 and Meyers earn a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 4.

"Our doubles teams were very aggressive and attacked early," commented head coach Brian Ottman.  "We were able to use that momentum to take early leads in singles action.  Everyone played well and contributed to these team wins."

Marian returns home to host Edgewood Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 4 p.m. for a NACC match.
