RIVER FOREST, Ill. - Marian University women's tennis (1-7, 1-4 NACC) earned their first victory of the season sweeping Concordia Chicago.
The Sabres were able to dominate in doubles action dropping only three games. Carly Paulson and Aeryn Olson earned a clean 8-0 sweep at the top flight with Abby Okon and Aubree Helstad taking the No. 2 doubles 8-2. Julia Loomans and Katrina Pokorny completed the doubles sweep only dropping one game with an 8-1 win.
Paulson and Pokorny then had the top performances in singles action as they each only dropped one game. Paulson earned a 6-1, 6-0 win at the No. 1 flight, while Pokorny was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at No. 5. Olson then was able to earn her fourth singles victory at the No. 2 singles spot with a 6-1, 6-2 victory. Helstad was able to earn her first No. 3 victory on the year with a 6-4, 6-3 win, while Loomans earned the first singles victory of her collegiate career at No. 6 by a 6-3, 6-2 score. In her first weekend of action, Okon was also able to earn her first collegiate singles win at the No. 4 flight by a 7-5, 6-3 margin.
Marian returns home to Fond du Lac High School to take on Alverno Saturday, Sept. 25 for an 11 a.m. match in NACC action.
