FOND DU LAC - Marian University women's tennis (2-2, 1-0 NACC) defeated Concordia Chicago 6-2 in the first NACC match of the season.
The Sabres were able to get out to a good start taking the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.Â
Carly Paulson and
Aeryn Olson took the top flight 8-4 and
Julia Loomans teamed up with
Melana Brunton for an 8-3 win at No. 3.
Marian was then able to sweep No. 3 to No. 6 singles to earn the win.Â
Abby Okon earned a two-set win at No. 3 with scores of 6-4 and 6-1, while
Katrina Pokorny won No. 4 6-3, 6-4. Loomans and Brunton then earned clean sweeps on the day with No. 5 and No. 6 singles wins, respectively. Loomans earned her win with scores of 6-3, 7-6 (7-5), and Brunton 7-5, 7-6 (7-2). The victory was the first singles victory for Brunton in her collegiate career.
Marian travels to Edgewood Sunday, Sept. 11 for a 10 a.m. match to conclude the weekend.
