FOND DU LAC - Marian University women's tennis (4-3, 2-1 NACC) defeated Illinois Tech for the first time in program history with a 9-0 win.
Carly Paulson and
Aeryn Olson earned an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles with
Abby Okon and
Katrina Pokorny earning a clean 8-0 sweep at No. 2 doubles. The duo of
Julia Loomans and
Melana Brunton then got a No. 3 victory by default.
In a thriller, Paulson took the top singles flight 6-4, 2-6, and 12-10. Olson followed at No. 2 with a 6-2, 6-1 win, and Okon was a 6-4, 6-1 winner at No. 3. At No. 4, Pokorny earned her second sweep of the day with a 6-0, 6-0 win, and Loomans went 6-0, 6-4 at No. 5. Brunton earned a second victory by default on the day at the No. 6 spot.
Marian travels to MSOE Sunday, Sept. 18 for a 10 a.m. match-up to close out the weekend.
