Koeberl earns spot in USBC ISC Championship

ADDISON, Ill. - Marian University men's bowling finished sixth and Marian University women's bowling finished 11th at the USBC ITC Championships.

MEN
  • The Sabre men were able to overcome a slow start to the championship and bowled better as the championship went on.
  • Marian opened in 12th after the first block with 3,049 pins.  The Sabres had five games with more than 200 pins with a high game of 246.
  • The Sabres then jumped to seventh after recording 3,276 pins in the second block, total of 6,325.  Marian had over 200 in 10 of the 16 games with another 246 coming in the first game of the day.
  • A 3,194 in the third block of action saw Marian remain in seventh at 9,519 total pins.  The Sabres had seven games over 200 with a high game of 237 in the second to last game of the block.
  • The Sabres completed the championship in sixth after a 3,276 in the final block for a final score of 12,795.  Marian had six games over 200 and its highest game of the entire championship coming in game 56 with a 257.
WOMEN
  • Marian had a strong start finishing with 2,871 pins in the first block to sit in seventh.  Marian had four games over 200 with a 213 in its ninth game.
  • A tough second block saw Marian fall to 12th despite knocking down more pins than the first block at 2,896.  The Sabres had three games over 200 with a 244 as the high score.
  • The Sabres remained in 12th after the third block finishing with 2,813 for a three-block total of 8,580.  Marian was able to overcome a slow start to the block and finished with more than 200 in two of the final three games.
  • Marian was then able to move up to 11th after recording its highest score in the final block.  Marian had 2,991 in that final block for a total of 11,571 pins.  The Sabres had four games over 200 with a high game of 226.

Jazmin Koeberl
Jazmin Koeberl became the second Marian bowler in program history to qualify for the ISC Championship after finishing third.  Koeberl finished with 1,256 pins over six games with a high game of 243, four games over 200. Kody Litzen led the Marian men finishing 17th individually at 1,231 pins.  He had three games over 200 pins with a high game of 254. Elana Rimer finished 35th with 1,123 pins.  She had a 244 in her fifth game.
