Duo from Marian Women's Bowling Named CSC Academic All-District

FOND DU LAC - Junior Jenna Betts and sophomore Addison Jacak of Marian University women's bowling have been named CSC Academic All-District.

The Academic All-America program run by College Sports Communicators (CSC) is considered one of the most prestigious awards as it is one of the few awards that combines academics and athletics.  To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average at their current institution.  The student-athlete must also be at least a sophomore and have been attending their current institution for a full calendar year.

Betts (Clare, Mich.) had another solid season on the lanes adding to her All-CCIW Second Team selection.  Betts averaged 182.2 pins over 40 games with four top-25 finishes.  She was the individual champion at the fourth GLBC event of the season after averaging 224.3 pins over six games.  This would earn Betts a CCIW Bowler of the Week award.  Betts also had a ninth-place finish at the third GLBC event of the year.  She has a 3.50 grade point average while studying exercise and sports science.

Jacak (West Bend, Wis.) dominated on the lanes earning her an All-CCIW First Team award for her second all-conference selection.  Jacak paced the Sabres most of the season and averaged 188.5 pins over 53 games.  She earned three top-five finishes during the season and in seven of 11 events placed inside the top-25.  Her best weekend came at the Valparaiso Bowling Classic where she averaged 209.6 pins over five games to finish second overall.  This would earn Jacak a CCIW Bowler of the Week award.  Jacak has boasted a 3.98 grade point average while majoring in elementary education and special education.  She was also the women's bowling recipient of the CCIW Elite 26 award which is awarded to the student-athlete with the highest grade point average at the CCIW Tournament Championship.
