NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Marian University women's bowling received 32 total points and a pair of first-place votes to finish second in the CCIW preseason poll.
Carroll was picked as the favorite to win the league edging Marian by just three points after receiving five first-place tallies. Following Marian was Augustana (Ill.) in third with 24 points and Carthage in fourth at 22 points. Elmhurst and Aurora each received 14 points to tie for fifth, while Illinois Wesleyan rounded out the preseason poll at six points. Â
The CCIW hosts a fall and winter event with the results being combined to determine the top four teams that will compete in the CCIW Tournament. The winner of the double-elimination conference tournament then earns an automatic bid into the National Collegiate Women's Bowling National Tournament.

Marian opens its season October 10-11 at the first Great Lakes Bowling Conference (GLBC) event of the year held in Mound Views, Minn. at Mermaid Lanes.
