Duo from Marian women's bowling named CSC Academic All-District

GREENWOOD, Ind. - A pair of student-athletes from the Marian University women's bowling program have been named Academic All-District by the organization College Sports Communicators (CSC).

The CSC Academic All-American program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their efforts both in competition and in the classroom.  To be eligible, a student-athlete must be in the lineup for 75 percent of their team's days of competition and attain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5. They must also hold at least sophomore standing at their institution.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Kesler (Plymouth, Wis.) made an immediate impact for Marian and was also selected First Team All-CCIW.  Kesler opened CCIW play placing 10th with a 170.3 average and a high game of 223.  She then dominated the second CCIW event finishing first with a 230.7 average.  She had a high game of 252 and was one of only three student-athletes in the conference with more than 600 traditional pins at the event with 692.  This earned Kesler her first CCIW Bowler of the Week award.  Kesler also finished with an average above 200 pins at the NCAA Division III Invite where she finished third with a 206.0 average.

Senior Elana Rimer (Woodville, Wis.) had a breakout final season with the Sabres and adds this award after being selected First Team All-CCIW.  Rimer led the way at the opening CCIW event of the season finishing with a 198.0 average and a high game of 221 in her final game.  The event was her best of the season in terms of average.  She then showed consistency finishing with a 194.7 average at the second CCIW event.  Rimer once again had a strong finish posting a 208 in her final game.  She had an average above 190.0 pins at two other events this season; Kegel ISBPA Classic and the fourth GLBC event.

Marian women's bowling have had multiple CSC Academic All-District selections in three of the last four seasons.
