Marian University Athletics Major Award Winners
Biography
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Senior Alonso Fragoso and junior Ian Chacon of Marian University men's soccer have been named to the All-Region Central team by the United Soccer Coaches.
Fragoso put together a breakout senior campaign that earned him second team All-Region accolades. Fragoso led the nation with 23 goals and 53 points, while also adding seven assists. Fragoso had seven multi-goal games and also had six games where he recorded five or more points. During the year, he was named the NACC Player of the Week twice. He also netted the game-winning goal against Beloit, MacMurray and Rockford in double overtime. Fragoso closes out his career with the most goals and points from any Sabre in Marian men's soccer history. This is the second time Fragoso has been named All-Region after being named to the third team last season. The Cicero, Ill. native was also named first team All-NACC earlier in the offseason.
Marian men's soccer had a breakout 2017 season that saw the Sabres finish with a winning record for only the second time since the 2002 season. The Sabres also clinched a berth in the NACC Tournament for the first time since the 2010 season.
